Cagri is a long-acting synthetic acylated analog of amylin, a peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. It is a lipidated peptide, with a fatty-acid modification that promotes albumin binding and extends its half-life relative to native amylin and earlier analogs such as pramlintide. It acts as an agonist at amylin receptors (calcitonin receptor/RAMP complexes) and calcitonin receptors.
